Founded by Willem van der Merwe, Wayne Freeman, and Guy Myles, our company was born from a shared vision: to create exceptional new homes, home extensions, bathrooms and kitchens of the highest quality. Together, we bring a unique blend of expertise across construction, marketing, and finance. This partnership of complementary skills ensures every project is backed by deep industry knowledge and a commitment to delivering finishes that are exceptional.
We are seasoned professionals who have reached a point in life where the chase of the rat-race has been replaced a choice for quality of life, family, peace an calm. Willem van der Merwe

Co-Founder & Operational Director
Willem is a Master Builder. With over 21 years of construction industry experience, Willem has worked as a London property manager, professional plumber, multi-skilled builder and has undertaken many complex projects of all kinds. Over years, he has built teams, connections, valuable supplier relationships, all carefully hand-picked to deliver quality work. The most common comment about Willem is how meticulous he is about making sure all work has a 100% quality finish.
Willem is full of life and laughter, a deep-sea fisherman, expert drone pilot and a master of BBQ! He lives in Brook, Godalming with his wife and two daughters.
Wayne Freeman

Co-Founder & Managing Director
Wayne is passionate about innovation, diverse ideas and people working together for good, for justice and for creative, quality outcomes that match the beauty of the world we live in.
As an entrepreneur and Managing Director, Wayne has built a number of businesses drawing on 28 years of business management, project management and marketing experience, delivering scores of projects for large corporations, charities, the NHS, local government and SMEs. Wayne has built his own home, and project managed a number of construction projects. At Calmera Homes, Wayne combines strategic insight with a creative mindset, ensuring each development not only meets high standards but also make sure we serve communities in meaningful ways.
Wayne is a multi-instrument musician, loves gardening, travel and adventure. He lives in West Byfleet with his wife and 2 kids.
Guy Myles
Guy Myles
Co-Founder & Executive Director
Guy Myles is a seasoned entrepreneur and financial expert with a distinguished career spanning over three decades. Starting as an Equity Fund Manager at Mercury Asset Management, he went on to be a co-founder of Octopus Investments, a leading UK investment firm which has grown into Octopus Group and Octopus Energy. He currently serves as CEO of Flying Colours, a financial advice and investment management company.
Guy brings a wealth of experience in financial strategy and business leadership to Calmera Homes, ensuring the company’s developments are both economically sound and of the highest quality. At Calmera Homes, Guy’s analytical approach and commitment to excellence play a crucial role in delivering homes that are beautifully designed but also built with financial prudence and sustainability in mind. His leadership ensures that each project aligns with the company’s values of quality, craftsmanship, precision, integrity, and calm.
Guy is an avid Chelsea supporter, loves nature and travel. He lives in Ascot with his wife and 4 kids.
